Looks great!  Much better without the flat tire!  Are you still having stalling problems, Soda?

Yeah. Warmed it up and did some testing today. I think I beat the stalling-when-coasting-problem by making it idle slightly higher.
I can't get it to react to turning the idle-screws, though..  :-\
Throttle 2/3s in, the carb spits smoke and the engine sputters. Don't know what causes it... If I try too hard it dies and is difficult to restart. It also smells a lot of gas. Maybe it gets too much fuel? Secondaries? Accel pump? Me no clue. :) Any ideas?  :)

Kickdown linkage is not connected. I think I have to connect it before taking it for a longer run...

Oh, the carb is a Holley with List: 6919 stamped on it. According to lists I've read it's a 600, not 650 as I was told by the seller.. :-\

Hook up that kickdown linkage because unless it is wired up in the correct position leaving it unhooked will burn up your tranny in a very[/]  short time! On your carb trouble have you checked your float levels? If you don`t know how buy a book!  ;D j/k I can explain if needed, jets are for part to full throttle and shouldn`t effect starting or idle.

Yeah. I hope to get that sorted out tomorrow. I had a close look at it today.

The problem with low RPM at idle which caused it to halt has (I think) been taken care of. I tuned the little knob connected to the throttle-arm at the carb so it idles a little higher. It's the leaner/richer idle-screws I can't get to make any difference. Hm. Probably need to get a vacuum-gauge to tune them properly anyway...

Remaining problem is when I apply full, or more than approx. 2/3 throttle. The carb then spits out exhaust, the engine sputters, and it may die. If I rev the engine (up to 2/3 throttle) several times in a row it can also sputter somewhat. If I floor it from idle it bogs...

I think the problem lies in what happens between 2/3 and full throttle.

Any suggestions?  :)

Could be a number of things from a bad or incorrect power valve to the carb needing a complete rebiuld to a vavuum leak.I would set your idle screws at 1 3/4 turns out, set your idle at 800 rpm if it will stay running there and set your float levels.Bogging when you hit the pedal off idle could be a bad accelerator pump, bad or wrong power valve or wrong squirters.Whenyou say the carb spits out the exhaust do you mean back fire?

Had a chat with CP last night, and we came to the conclusion that it's leaky gaskets and/or faulty power valve. So now I'm looking for a cheap rebuild-kit. :)

Well, at 2/3 to full throttle the carb acts like an exhaust. :) When the air-cleaner is mounted I guess it might inhale enough exhaust again to kill it, but it seems to "just" sputter a lot when the cleaner is off.
When the cleaner is on and I floor it. the engine will act like I'm sitting there revving, if you know what I mean.

There are no backfiring "pops", but that might mean nothing.
