My 71 has an auto tranny cooler. Not sure if it is stock or aftermarket, but I'm doing the Keisler 5-speed upgrade so it has to go. I usually only deal with manual trannys, so forgive me for asking, but is ATF running from the tranny to the cooler or is coolant running from the cooler to the tranny? It is plumbed as follows (could be reverse of this also): line 1 goes from tranny to radiator, line 2 goes from radiator to tranny cooler, line 3 goes from tranny cooler to tranny.
When I go to pull the lines out do I need to have the radiator drained to prevent coolant from spilling out, and/or do I have the same issue with tranny fluid (probably a moot point since I need to drain the tranny before yanking it out anyway)?
Thanks in advance.
