I went to a car show this afternoon in my 6pk barracuda. My car was dissasembled back in 1973 , I mean totally apart. I had it shipped to my house in 2006, then built everything for it and tagged it to drive on the road. Well today It made it's first maiden voyage of 100 miles. with 391 gears and leaving the tach on 2800 rpms. I even have a 22 inch radiator in the car. it was 97 degrees out today and I did not take any tools along. I was tense, but it did excellent. I left the show at 73 to return home and got in just at dark. I didnt want to risk night driving with all being new.  When I get my dana 60 this week, it will have 354 gears in it and I believe I will be happy with them. I am also getting tired of swapping gears. I have done it 4 times in 2 months. It was getting old trying everything out.

There wasnt but 5 or so mopars there and 100 chevies and about 50 fords. I was amazed at how many people kept coming over to my car to look at it and make some nice comments. Mind you, my car is just a street car, but I did wash and dry it just before I went. It felt good hearing the comments, it told me all my work had done good. They talked about the M46 scoops alot to. When I left, I cruised through the chevy section and left a pair of rubber melted tracks in front of there show cars. Had to let them see what the cuda440-6 emblems was for on the hood.

Hi Alan,

Glad to hear you had a trouble free road trip and skid old mate :burnout: :2thumbs:

The power is definately there. Excellent for all around local, but I want to be able to drive to Tn, Louisiana, Ca, and accross the nation with the car, so I am for the 354 gears. I will sell the 391's. Everything is brand new thats, gears and powerlok, so it should sell rather quickly. The rpms wasnt bad, just I don't want the engine wear doing long driving.

Glad it went good!!  I know that feeling...  The first long cruise.  I'm still on the edge of my seat most of the time! Nice to hear your having some fun Al! Too much work and no play makes Jack(Al) a dull boy. I love the 3:91's for the street. The 5th gear on the freeway is heaven for me. I love the sound.    By now you can probably change out those gears in an hour. :stirpot:    Sounds like another cruise is in order! :2thumbs:

Way to go Alan.  I am not surprised at the number of people who looked at your car, it is beautiful.  Glad to see you did not have any trouble with that beast and 16mpg sounds great with a 6pk engine and 3.91s  :burnout:

Yeah clinton I still have to top the tank off again to see what exact amount of fuel I actually did use for mpg game. Also, there were miles I did 2400 rpms too. And everyone was passing me, which was not a problem. The mileage would probably suck if I just let it sing at 3k all the time. I didnt build it to granny drive it either. I was just being carefull so far from home

Al,
That is awesome. :2thumbs: I am really glad to hear you telling a story where you went and had some fun and enjoyed your Mopar instead of telling us of your next job some 400 miles away!! You deserve a break my man!! Glad the car did well. I wish I was there to see some rubber melting in front of those GM's. You have a sweet ride and should be proud of all your hard work. Do you know what SS stands for?? (Chevy joke)......Stool Sample!!! :smilielol:

Alan sounds like you had a good time and got to get out and drive the 440-6 like they should be. I'm not one for the 3:91 gears and just put a 2:94 3rd member in my 71 Challenger RT for the drive over to Columbus, Ohio for the Nats. If nothing else maybe I'll improve the gas mileage for the 460 mile each way trip from IL.
