get a good quality ring set , plasma moly , not chrome moly
 I use Clevite / Michigan 77 brgs
positive type steel outer rubber inner valve seals
for Cam I would choose a modern grind Like an Engle K 54 or the Lunati Voodoo series that matches the powerband where you need the engine to work which will be in the 1600-5500 range with a stock converter

Do you think the holley street dominator manifold will work for starters or dont wast my time.Am I going to have no lowe end? Most ld-340s are almost as expensive as an air gap.Going to Order one of the cams you suggested.Do you think I should buy a new manifold money is a factor right now.Thanks.

the engine will run fine with the street dom intake , it may cost a few ponies until you can afford something different
