Getting a Dart?
« on: July 29, 2008 - 09:42:54 PM »
Well, as alot of you guys know - I'm new here
and would like  :feedback: and advice

Right now it is almost impossible for me to restore an E-body (limiting factors such as parents, garage space, budget and no MIG welder).
With the cash I do have I have a good chance at scoring a 2-door Dart in good condition for a driver due to their availability.

My question is - does anyone have suggestions/opinions on the best Dart year and things to know before going to meeting with sellers to see the car. (I've done some research, but allot of information is scattered and I can't find a clear 'winning' year and model)

Also, If people have any opinions on other Mopar models to keep an eye out for that are still in the affordable range.
I really wish I could get a Challenger right from the start but the damn things are too popular!!   :(

I am a  :newbie: as far as Mopar acquisition goes (looking for a first car) so all advice is welcome
(thanks for your time)
No, I don't own a MOPAR, but I will

Pretty much like anything else. Check out all the models and see which one appeals to you. I would try and find one with either a big block or 340 if you want to keep original. But I would most likely find the right year that I like, and put a fuel injected 400 hp motor in it. I actually like the 73 or 74, even 69. Good luck.

This is just my opinion but I like the '70-'71 Darts the best.  I think they have the best looking front clip.  Here is picture of a '70 Dart my father and I built a few years ago.

Yeah, I agree, the fronts on those look the best.  If you want the best looking front and rear, get a Demon.  They have a Dart front and Duster rear, the best looking A body, IMO.   :2cents:

Instead of a Dart, you might consider a Valiant Scamp.  I think the front on this is even better looking than the Darts of the same years.  Harder to find, but here's a nice one that's for sale here in San Diego.  A little far away for you, I know.
