I used a Blair spotweld cutter to cut the spotwelds. I also used a 1" wood chisel to separate the flanges after cutting the spotwelds, as there is usually a little weld left still holding the flanges together after drilling or cutting the spots. The wood chisel is thinner than a regular cold chisel and doesn't bend the flanges up as bad when separating them, plus its eisier to get between the flanges.
