Are there any websites that have production number on them. I don't want to pay for a book to get one answer. I am looking to know how many tripple green (GREEN TOP, GREEN INTER. GREEN BODY) Challengers where produced in 73.

I think you are outta luck.  Ma Mopar didn't keep track of colors.  Best you can do is get ahold of the registries and find out how many are known to still exist.

Ok, silly question but how would I do that.  :clueless:
Also as I am looking for other answers you may know. How does one get history on the past owners of a classic car. I know carfax does it, but they only go back to the 80's. I have a truck that may have a historic past owner and would love to have a list of past owners. Can you get this info from the DMV or another source for Pre-80's Autos?  :worshippy

Sorry TripGreen I won't be much help.  I have read a couple threads on this site and it sounds like checking with the DMV could help but don't count on it.  I've heard their records are limited for old vehicles or that they will not release the information.  Going back through the person you bought it from may be a good starting point - beyond that  :dunno:

I'm more of a 'Cuda guy than Challengers so I'm not up on all their registries but Galen Govier runs the Chrysler Registry http://www.gvgovier.com/registry.htm  I've seen folks selling cars with letters from him stating how many are known to exist for certain option combinations.  You may have to register your car to find out any info - again  :dunno:  Hopefully the Chally guys can be more helpful.  Good luck.

I recently ordered the ownership history from the ca DMV. I had to print an application and give the reason for wanting the info and $25.00.  A month later I got a piece of paper that listed the owners name and date of purchase in chronological order. My car had two other owners but the first owner has no date since they probably didn't keep track of that stuff in 1971.
