“The look of the car is a big part of its appeal, and people will be happy to have that for just over $20,000,” he said. That rough price refers to the base SE trim level; the SRT8 stickers for $37,320.

Can't argue with that logic.  If I were to buy one it would probably be a V6 between the price difference and the gas mileage, it's th eonly choice that makes sense for someone on a budget.  Plus, at 250 NET bhp, it has more power than as an gen 1 340 car.

Personally, I'll probably go for the R/T when it comes out.  The V6 will NOT be available with stick, and I want that.  I currently own an SRT-8 Charger.  More power than I really need for sitting in traffic on the way to work.  I think the R/T will have plenty of power, especially since it will have 30 more horses than the current Charger R/T.

BTW this article says the V6 will get 18/25 MPG.  That isn't very impressive.  I get 16/23 with my SRT-8 Charger.  Not much better on the gas, although you can use 87 octane with the V6 and 89 with the 5.7, where I have to use 91.

Plus, at 250 NET bhp, it has more power than as an gen 1 340 car.

The new Challenger also weighs more, so I wouldnt expect the V6 to be quicker than a 1st gen 340 Challenger.  Go with the R/T, especially if that reported V6 mileage is correct.  The amount of additional money it takes to fill the tank is well worth filling your soul with a 370 Horse Hemi mated to a 5-speed.
