opinion on Chrysler Crossfires
« on: August 09, 2008 - 08:21:39 PM »
I have been looking around a little bit for a nice little roadster and was really suprised by how far the prices of Chrysler Crossfire convertibles are right now. With a little lookin you can find really low mile ones for less than 18k. I found an SRT6 for under 21k also. I dont know if I would go that way mostly because I want a manual shift and they only came with automatics. What do you guys think of them?

sorry, bb,
never liked the style of the crossfire. Could be why they are history. i would think in time if your patient you could get one really reasonably priced. Is this the last year for them? I can't remember. Maybe you can pick one up and drop in a hemi. I might have paid more attention to them then. good luck with the hunt.

April has one.  IIRC, she really likes hers.

I am not a huge fan of the hardtops but the roadsters look pretty cool to me. The fact that it is made by Mercedes to be honest is kind of a plus for me. Should be a really solid little car. Not very serious at all at this point, just wondering what others think. I am also looking at Harley V-Rods if that makes any sense lol.

I actually drove one today for a bit.  It was a hardtop stick, could barely see out the back.lol

Sporty little car, I bet the SRT-6's would be really fun.

Yeah there seems to be a glut of them on the market. I know the SRT6 went for close to 50k when new. Eh if I got it my wife would just take it away from me lol. She says she is tired of driving the school bus Yukon XL and wants a 2 seater.

We bought a two seater a few years back (bmw m roadster) simply to leave the kids behind! Not to be cruel, we did offer the trunk if they really wanted to come along! I don't know why know of them have taken us up on it! Did I mention I like square corners!  :bananasmi

WARNING! Crossfires do not do donuts w/o breaking!

My mom had one and came down to visit us here in Miss. a few years back. We (me and wifey) took it out for a spin. We hit about 160 on the interstate at about 2 am. On our way back we saw a church paking lot that looked like it needed some rubberized decorative markings......

It was a blast!

On the way back to Oklahoma, my parents had rear diff failure. Luckily it was only about 60 miles away from home. The dealership said it looked like abuse and sent samples to Germany to see if warranty would cover it. Before the results got back my dad had them fix it for free. I guess buying a new Charger Daytona R/T, a 03 CTD Ram, and a 00 CTD is enough for them to not want to lose his business and overlook the "abuse".
I haven't told the parents that I did the donuts that may have led to the failure but I was sweating bullets until they got it resolved.

Overall, I would say it was a very fun car and though I didn't like the rear window being hard to see out of I wouldn't hesitate to put it near the top of the list if I were looking for a roadster.
I really like the capabilities of the Cayenne's. They cost a bit more though.

What do used Prowlers go for?

Thanks for the review gofish. The hardtop looks absolutely claustrophobic  :eek4:  I do like the idea of dropping the top though. The reason I am even thinking about it is the super low price. It is weird to think you can get what is essentially a Mercedes for the price of a Neon.

I wonder if this clown realises he is disparaging the Germans and Mercedes, and not Americans?  :clueless: We all know he hates anything American.

Someone needs to remind that prick that if it were not for the U.S., he would be licking Hitlers boots. I got the sense that he was cutting down both nations. Wonder what he thinks Englands contribution is to anything? What a jackass.

He trashes the Z06 Vette too, even though it runs circles around European cars that cost 4 times as much.  :screwy:
