Body twist
« on: August 11, 2008 - 06:53:09 AM »
In my newly purchased Challenger convertible I plan to put in a stroker (today a 318 car), how sensitive is the body for movements and
what is the recomended highest torque/HP to not stress the body to much?

It will be flexing already just as it is. A stronger engine will make it worse.

Weld in some chassis connectors. They connect the front and rear subframes. Some types also weld to the floor for even better strength.
That will make the whole car feel better.

Is there nothing available that doesn't need welding? Find it a pitty on a convertible if I want to put back to original.  :clueless:

There are bolt-in sub-frame connectors, and I think the consensus that I've read here is that they help a lot but are not as good as weld-in connectors. If I recall correctly you do still have to drill holes for the bolts.

Get the point! Would it be necessary for 5-10 burnouts per year and the rest is cruising? No stroker, mildly upgraded 440.

If you are going to keep it that close to stock then you may as well keep it completely stock. Worth more that way.
