I'm working on the wife's 71 R/T Challenger.
Her car is going to need the entire stock front suspension gone through, steering, torsion bars, upper and lower control arms, etc. It also needs it's original non power 4 wheel drum brakes gone through.
The car is a non power steering car and the wife would like the car swapped to power steering also.
I'm leaning real strong towards buying a complete AlterKtion front setup with power steering which will take care of the front suspension, power steering, and brakes.
I have a B body rear end I was planning on rolling under the car and I have a Dr. Diff offset spring hanger kit to use. I also have a set of new Torq Thrust II rims that are 15x10 with 5.75" rear spacing and a new set of BFG 325/50-15 Drag Radials for tires.
My problem is I'm very limited to what size 15" Torq Thrust II rims I can put on the front of the car with the AlterKtion setup. Probably a 15x6 or 15x7 if I use a spacer.
So plan B would be to go to 17" wheels all around on the car which I'm not real familiar with.
So for the 17" wheel experts out there give me some advice.
I could keep the stock E body rear end or just as easily put the B body rear end under the car with the Dr. Diff kit.
What size and offset rims should I be looking for on the front?
What size and offset rims should I be looking for on the rear?
What tire sizes should I be looking for?
Are the countless 17" wheels offered for late model Mustangs even close?(they seem to have a lot of backspacing)
I would like to get the biggest tires stuffed under the car as possible.
Thanks in advance for any info and advice and feel free to post pics of your car with 17" wheels
