Nope no way...... residual pressure valve should prevent this from the brake line side...sooo maybe it's internal to the master cylinder.

There is no residual pressure valve on the front resevoir if the front is disc brakes, so it may be relatively normal.for a bit to jump up when you push the pedal with no cover on it.  Are there any problems with the braking otherwise?

Yes front discs.

New reman master, bench blead master, most new parts, blead brakes twice, and get no air.  Brakes are real soft, peedle goes right to the floor with car running.

I've been messing with master cylinders for months now... finally rebuilt my old one & could not get great pedal feel, was taking 2-3 pumps to get pedal up then I manually adjusted the rear drum brakes which seems to have improved things a lot.

Ummm with the cover off fluid will spurt up when the pedal is depressed ,
but you are saying it is squirting up with the cover NOT OFF ? where is it coming from ?
low pedal is either air in the lines or the drum brakes not adjusted up

Sorry for the confusion...it shoots up with the cover off.

I will try to adjust the back brakes first, I did that when I replaced the rear shoes.  I will check them again.

well, did that, and have rebleed the master cylinder, and I still have a really soft pedel.  The brakes work, as I moved the car around and it stoped, but I really do not like the pedel feel.  I basiaclly have no confidence in the brakes at this point.

Any thoughts???

I have gotten several bad rebuilt master cylinders right out of the box.  I try to buy new whenever I can, but it might be worth your time to try another one.  Don't forget to thoroughly bench bleed it.
