Shows/attendance down due to gas prices?
« on: August 24, 2008 - 07:54:44 AM »
Hanging to a few buddies last night at a cruise night we talked about how some shows have had pretty weak attendance this year and it seems the weekends I look for a local car show I can`t seem to find much going on where in years past I usually had a choice of a couple almost every weekend. Not sure if it`s really a trend due to gas prices or just a couple bad shows and off weekends. How are shows/cruises in your area?

The little towns around here are fairly close to each other. Every weekend there is a cruisin going on somewhere. They are not very big with usually around 20 cars or so , give or take, but weather permitting, something is most always going on. Right now we have hurricane Fay casting all this bad rain around our area, so it is hampering to the weekend regular fun.  Chryco came over and he fixed my windshield wipers, so I could actually go riding in the rain today   , But I think I'll pass.

We have a few cruises each weekend here, i just dont "feel" like getting the car out and going... its not gas prices, I just dont live around the corner from the good cruise.

I went for a long cruise yesterday, around 280 miles or so.  Loved every minute of it.  I wish there was more going on to be honest.(locally) But drive whenever I can.  I averaged 15.5 in mixed driving.  Running rich now, need to readjust a bit.

Tom :2thumbs:

I went last Wed and 4-500 cars showed up so I would say attendance was good for that show.  There is at least 2-300 every Wed night at the Liberty Tree Mall.

I haven't seen it up here also. There seems to always be a lot of cars and people at the local stuff.

I went to Mopar Madness at Dinwiddie yesterday (Sunday the 24th) and the place was dead. Only a handful of show cars, maybe 30 cars there to run on the track. I saw some pictures from Saturday that looked like a nice turnout, but Sunday was really disappointing. Especially after driving an hour and a half to get there.  :(
