Help upper radiator hose is collapsing
« on: August 28, 2008 - 08:47:49 PM »
My upper radiator hose is collapsing?

After sitting for a day the cap is under pressure & I take the cap of and it comes back to form.

I am puzzled what could be the cause of this and how do I fix it?

Try replacing the radiator cap, the cap is supposed to relieve expansion pressure and allow for recovery when it is cooling down.

What recovery?  These cars never had coolant over flow bottles back then.

recovery as far as allowing air back into the system as it cools back down. Looks like you have a bad cap or the wrong cap for the custom radiator.

Put a spring in the hose like it has in the bottom

Top hose doesn't need a spring, it is the radiator cap, its not allowing the air back into the radiator as it cools.
  Cheap fix.   :2thumbs:
