If you have  73 Challenger will you take some measurements for me?

I'm almost done installing a new headliner in the boyfriends car, but wasn't informed about the domelight hanging from a wire.  :clueless: (I could feel it so I thought it was stationary)  Good thing he mentioned it before I made the cut!!

I can get dead center of the car (side to side) but would like someone to measure the position from front to back...  I'll cut a tiny x at your dead center so I can look around.  I just want to be sure that my cut is not outside of where the light goes.

THANKS!!!!!!!!!

Just kidding.LOL

24.75 from the inside edge of the trim at the front.  The edge away from the windshield.   Also I did not bend the tape measure with the headliner, I just measured straight to the center of the dome light.

1)  Cost ya a huge bottle of JACK DANIELS!!!!!

2)  You haven't seen my work!!  Here it is - haven't used a blow dryer or clothes steamer yet.  The stupid seatbelt holders are just wrong... They force you to push into the natural flow of the headliner.

I'm going to use your measurement - I'll let you know how it went.  But as you can see, I still need to add the front trim piece.

Just add the thickness of the trim to the measurement.  It is pretty big(dome light) so you should be fine. :2thumbs:

Jack Daniels, Me and Him DO NOT get along very well.

Looks awesome, I hope mine comes out that well.

As I recall, the dome light placement is a little tricky. The place where the bulb rides is the catch. The assembly will go 2 different ways

The Jack was for me silly!  You just had to pick him up!!

OK, it's in - worked great.  Thanks for your HELP!

Doubt you're close to Lincoln, NE... but I'd be glad to help.  Could give you some pointers.  I put the whole thing up - hooked into the teeth in the front and started clamping my way back. Got clear to the back teeth and that's when the 3rd bow towards the back sprung upside down and refused to stay up.  Tried moving to all three holes that are there including moving the back bow.  NOTHING WORKED, so I unhooked everything (Grr!!) and started over.  I started by hooking on the back teeth, then clamping forward.  That worked.  Personally, I'd scrap the shoulder belts - they make it impossible for it to look right cuz you have to push in at least an inch and a half.  The good news is that the belts cover the wrinkles that it causes.

Hallelujah it's done!!!

Yep, you're right.  The trick was to just find the brace that runs across the roof.  Then there is a spot (maybe 2" wide) right in the center that sticks down a little further.  I put my x in the middle of that and found the slots that it goes into.

Thanks!

So rear to front is the way to go?  I will be doing this in the winter.  Got to keep the shoulder belt for my boys.  Strap em in nice and tight. :grinyes:

Tom

Plus something has to keep me in the seat when I'm going around the rotaries around here.  I bet that most people have never been in a rotary here.LOL  Pretty funny to watch someone who has never been in one. :burnout:  Tip whatever you do don't stop.  I'm in MA, just a bit away. :faint:

I had to do mine from rear to front for the same reason you had to
