Scratches in the Glass of my door mounted rear view mirror...
« on: August 27, 2008 - 01:05:45 PM »
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to remove scratches in the glass on my pass rear view mirror?  I tried 2000 grit sand paper, but that made it worse.  Rubbing compound didn't seem to touch it.  Any suggestions will be appreciated.

I've had pretty good success using 0000 steel wool. Real light circular rubbing and it does takes a while but it works on light scratches.

0000 work great on regular glass but can destoy mirror glass which is much softer than tempered glass!!!! I would not go that route! Try a very light cleaner wax such a Meguires. Even toothpaste might be too aggressive. What ever you do be very careful! I hate to say it but you might have already gone too far. Good luck. :2thumbs:

the silver is on the face of the mirror not behind it , you will need to replace the glass/ mirror
