Can you find a race shop and purchase 100+ octane?  I am sure that will get the ping out.  Make sure it is not leaded.

:banghead: :pullinghair:

I made the mistake of putting 7 gallons of 91 octane in my car and had to back off the timing 4 or more degrees to get the ping out. I need to put my half inch fuel sending unit in, so I cant add any extra.

So what I am doing is backing off on the distributor and running all 3 carbs as much as possible  :burnout: untill I can take the sending unit out, then go get some good gas. And yes there is a major big difference in performance when you retard the timing.

I run 110 Oct leaded gas in my T/A. I buy it at the pump in a local station. I'm running 12.5 compression and it like this gas. I mix it about 50-50 with premium unleaded and boy does the 340 likey it!!!

I run 93 in mine. I haven't ever tried anything else... How much HP would it take to need a 1/2in pickup? I think I saw a dual 1/2 pickup somewhere. That's alot of fuel....

Never have that problem since converting to run 85% Ethanol.  Kinda hard to find in CA, though.
