Crazy Vacation
« on: August 31, 2008 - 12:12:21 AM »
So, I went to Oklahoma with my family to see my parents. Three days into it we started watching the Gustave thing out in the Gulf and decided we better head back home and get the important stuff out of the house since we live a couple blocks of the Gulf.
Good news was I got to go by Al's place and picked up some parts. Also, a word of warning, if you venture by MoparAl's you WILL NOT be able to leave without a car load of parts.
We are going to head up north of here when the weather starts to turn tomorrow night.

BTW, Allan can pick on the ole guitar pretty good too.

I hear Canada in your area gets quite cold in the winter time.  Your gift may be a free room n board for 4 or 5 months in sunny warm ALABAMA :woohoo:

It is a beautiful morning here. You wouldn't even think there was a storm a brewin'. I am beginning to rethink the Gulf Coast living thing. I love it down here but it seems like this is going to be a recurring event. I still love the Southeastern US though.
I will more than likely always live in the SE unless the military temporarily takes me away, just not right on the Coast!

They are saying 16 foot surge. There was a 30 ft surge w/ Katrina and there was only 4 ft of water in our little rental house. I don't think we'll get any water but we'll certainly get wind here on the MS coast.

Thanks Al. If it is bad and my town gets alot of damage I have to stay and fend off the looters and help out but if it is minimal which I think it will be, I am going to resume my vacation.

Well, I just heard the Blackhawks so that means the NG is here. Just heard also on the TV that there is a mandatory evacuation South of I-10 today and a curfew tonight from 10 pm to tomorrow morning (when the storm is hitting).
I think they're overreacting.
