'68 340 forged crank
« on: August 30, 2008 - 02:50:58 AM »
So you may have seen that I have acquired what seems to be a pretty nice forged crank 340 shortblock, and what I'd like to know is how much the stock, good condition forged crank is worth. I'm still looking into stroker builds, so I may not be using it. Its in great shape, although I still have to measure it. Engine has been rebuilt once, so it may be .010 under already.

Thoughts?

Anybody? I'm following an auction on ebay, but would like to get some more opinions rather than a single auction. Also, I would be selling the rods as well (obviously) if I decide to go with the stroker.

I have bought a couple the past 2 years and have paid $150.00 and $125.00 for them. Both looked good and were never turned but I had them polished and used them. Might get more or less and I would buy another for a extra if the price was right.

You would really need to know if it is a 10 10 crank. If its a 20 or 30  I wont pay much for it or most of the time pass it by. To turn a crank here is 60 bucks. It would need to be drilled for a 4spd to get bigger bucks too. Its worth more when clean and ready for the next guy to check and install. How's the thrust journal area?  Hard to tell what your getting when used , like bent or egged.  Maybe 75/100 if not prepped at least to me anyways

Its drilled for a 4 speed. I haven't pulled it yet, so while I think its either stock or 10 over I still need to measure. But probably safe to say about 100 bucks for it. Still in the decision making phase for the rebuild, but its good info to have.  :2thumbs:
