What is the timing at?

I used a vacuum guage and got mine to idle clean and that helps a bunch.  Go for highest vacuum at idle with the idle mixture screws.  You may need more intial timing?

It doesn't take much of a turn to change the idle mixture.  Like was previously stated turn the screws in till they "lightly seat" and then turn them out 1.5 turns, start there.  Try to fing th best lean idle.  This is by turning in "leaner" out "richer"  Watch the vacuum guage for more or less vacum while doing so.  You have to make the same adjustments on both sides.  You may also have to lower your curb idle screw and repeat as necessary until no more vacuum can be realized.

the choke should be just lightly closed at 70* range , electric chokes work the best

I had mine in the middle of the range and adjusted it slightly from there.  Haven't messed with it too much though since the beginning.
