Yeah, those were the days.

Personally, I think Chrysler should pull all of their money out of NASCAR.  They're spending, what, $60 million/year in sponsorship?  What are they getting back for that?  Not $60 million in sales, I'd guess.

For stock cars, at least in some classes, I go to SCCA. Unfortunately, as far as I can tell, there's no class that has stock American V8 vehicles.

Check out National Auto Sport Association's American Iron, American Iron Extreme or their Mustang/Camaro Challenge for some big bore road racing. http://www.americanironracing.com/ My local AI class guys have been trying to convince me to build my Challenger up for the class. Tempting as the thought is, I'm just not there financially, or time wise for that level of commitment. It would be a blast as it is a fairly open class when it comes to body and chassis, but somewhat restricted in power levels allowed to put the emphasis on chassis tuning and driver skill. They have a minimum weight and a maximum horsepower combination. Engines are dynod regularly to verify your within the intent of the rules. How you make the power is irrelevent so long as you within the limits. I'm thinking a AAR/TA replica with the full on XV suspension would be the hot ticket there.

The nose looks Challenger like, but the side shot looks like the same old generic COT stuff......      :walkaway:     Nascar isn't about stock car racing anymore, it's about the giant television contracts and corporate sponsorships.     :violin:
I live close to Bristol. I'm not a huge fan of circle track racing though. You should come down to Mopar Thunder at Bristol Dragway next weekend :)

The pic LUMPY posted said it all, the driver was part of a team, mistakes were made but over come.   :burnout:  Now a days it is very mechanical, dull.
If you didn't lift the hood you wouldn't know what make it really was, the Challenger NASCAR will probably be last years chassis with the latest Challenger sticker on the side.
MOPAR may shoot themselves in the foot, they have a new exciting car and it should be promoted to its fullest advantage, not tucked away in a pack of look-a-likes.   :stirpot:

The only thing Challenger about it is the grille and that is not at all aero so I`m sure it won`t be on the cars looking like that,it will just be a sticker to look like it.

Nascar is on its way out starting a few years back. They are all the same cookie cutter cars, boring just like NHRA Pro Stock they are just gas power funny cars with carbs...again boring..
Now NHRA Comp,Super/Stock & Stock you have real cars with real original engines..
