no difference to a point , the 440 & Hemi had a 18 spine heavier version but the lighter 23 spline will bolt up , the blehousing is different for small & big blocks & there are 2 versions , long & short tailshaft , only the later long shaft will fit an E body + it has to have the dual shift mount pads
Brewers Performance  sells rebuilt units & belhousings as well

The only difference is the bearing size between a big block and small block 4 speed but either will work. There is alos a hemi 4 speed that will work as well but is a lot more money. The main difference between the standard and hemi 4 speeds is the input shaft on the hemi 4 speed is an 18 spline versus a 23 spline. Passon Performance and Brewers both rebuilt transmissions as well as many other parts for 4 speed cars.

383DART,

Welcome.  Where are you located ?  There are vendors out there like http://www.brewersperformance.com/default.htm that sell rebuilt trannys.  I happen to live close to Brewer's and they are great to deal with.

Not between the big and small block, but I do believe the body style may make a difference. Below are two more links of places that have 4 speed parts.
