or at least, was it worth selling it at the time?
...I think it set a worlds record for a 4-BBL Bird at the time I sold it(under $40K), yes, it was well worth turning it over, I think I bought another Daytona after that, been a long time
...the original owner was about 93 years old and he had several heirs who wanted the car....he felt the only fair thing to do was to liquidate the car and split the money among them...he took the Bird back to the little dealership where he bought it new and had them to dispose of it....a mechanic there called a friend of mine and he called me, I was there early the next morning and bought it on the spot...had it picked up a few days later and the original owner was there to see her off...I have several pictures of him beside the car and inside the car....he was barely able to see over the dash
...the car still had all the paperwork in the glove box and it was all like new...several other rare doccuments were still under the seats, I don't think the car had ever been swept out since it was sold new...it had lots of scrapes on the nose and white paint(white wash) down both sides where the old wooden garage doors chattered against the car when his wife parked it in the garage, yes, it was her car....it also had lots of small dents/dings in the driver side of the nose, she was parking by feel....he said he had the cruise installed because she drove it too fast...helluva story with that SuperBird
