Small Block Valve Cover Gaskets
« on: November 09, 2008 - 06:47:17 AM »
So, Ive always used Cork b/c I hated the rubber, it always leaked. But I realized both of my valve cover gaskets are leaking a little due to loosening bolts, so I tightend them up.

But, I was wondering, I just put a Chrysler Factory Gsket on my 727 Pan and I was curious if anyone makes a valve cover gasket that works the same way. Its Plastic with rubber inserts. The plastic allows you to tighten without deforming the gasket, which is what causes most peoples leaks. I know they sell those little T tabs, and then theres the Chevy Guy look with those stupid Handles built into the bolts.....

Just curious....

I have those and they work awesome, the best part is they are completely reusable and very sturdy.  I can't count how many times I've had them on and off.

I love those Mopar rubber/metal insert gaskets. They are reusable and don't leak. I have been running them on my Challenger for about 6 years with no issue.

Those gaskets are pretty good, the mentioned mopar ones. I'm semi certain the sealing surface on my head  is off and it still seals pretty well. I've had four different style valve covers on my car, all leaked one way or another.
