Need some help finding the led taillight kit for 73 challenger. The one that goes in to the socket where the bulb goes. Any advice?

If you are talking those multiple LED bulbs then they are useless as they shine up not back towards the rear of the car. I just use higher wattage standard bulbs. No one has come up with a lamp that works. There is, however, previous posts here about a complete LED conversion that was done for a 70 Challenger though. That might work. My car is Citron Yella so no one is going to hit it in daytime and the tailights are reasonably bright at night.

I guess you're looking for something like this:

It's plug and play, remove bulb, install kit. No hassle with any kind of modifications of the wiring in any way. You can remove the kit and go back to using a bulb if you wish, no problem.

X2 on the product from Northwest.  I have them installed in my car and they are excellent.  Be prepared to do a little grinding on the edges to make them fit properly into the lens.  The 72-74 challenger units are actually from his 69 Chevelle boards just routed different.  Good stuff and very bright.

Sounds good. I actually got pulled Memorial Day weekend because the officer said he thought my tail lights were too dim/defective. I showed him that they were fully functional brake lights/tail lights and told him that they were factory and that was as bright as they were going to get. He couldn't write me a ticket and I'm sure he rally just wanted to look at the car!! But I have wanted something a little brighter! Thanks for the data!  :2thumbs:

Got any pictures of it?
Curious on how the boards aand mounting bracket looks, and how it fills out the lens, The kit from hitechled is very... ...square.

Installation is simple.  Remove the taillight lens to expose the bulb.  Remove the bulb and socket from the housing.  Press down and twist to remove the bulb from the socket.

Before installing the LED taillight boards, look at your taillight lens gaskets and make sure they are in good shape and replace them if needed.  With LED tail lights, water is an enemy.

Trial fit the LED boards to the inside of the tail lights lens.  They must fit inside the tail light lens housing.

The LED board has an 1157 pigtail mounted to the back of the board which simply plugs
in the existing wiring harness.  No modifications to the original wiring are required.

The LED board is held in place with 3M Brand VHB tape.  This tape offers excellent adhesive that develops over time.  This stuff is tough.  If a less permanent adhesive is desired you can always using a silicon caulk adhesive.

The installation is simple and can be done in about an hour.  For the sake of safety this entire installation costs less than $100.00 total, which is money well spent.

My set just arrived today.  I didn't put them in permanently, but I mocked them up.   Before I did I pulled out my light meter and took some readings:

Before:
Brake: 90 lux
Running lights: 54 lux

After:
Brake: 1410 lux
Running lights: 70 lux

I ordered the reverse lights as well but I haven't put them in yet.
