Just wondering..
« on: December 02, 2008 - 07:59:38 PM »
Does anybody make shackles for leaf spring cars? Not the stock ones but the ones that were commonly found throughout the '60s and '70s. I just need to know a company that makes them, they are for fitting witer wheel/tires under the rear of cars..I would expect JC Whitny or Honest Charlies to carry them but I came up empty handed.. They do not need to be for any particular car..

Don't know the application but you should be able to buy a spring relocation kit which is basically an offset shackle. This will allow an offset of I think up to about 2 inches without any frame mods. After that it would require some welding/fitment work. I know they are made for Mopars. Don't know why they wouldn't be made for your Firebird!!

that has never worked on a Mopar , the rear section of the spring is far softer then the front so using a long shackle just pushes the rear of the spring down
