Chrysler speak for a new guy to Chrysler
« on: February 18, 2009 - 07:21:19 PM »
forgive if I post in wrong place.  With a completely disassembled new purchase, I just dropped some $ on "1974 Chassis Service Manual" hoping it would have undercar schematics of park brake.  While I'm still confused about terminology "connector" between rear lines and intermediate cable, I'm more confused about the legends in the shop manual (B, J, R, W, V, L, P, D, C)?  What are those legends?  I guess I'm dain-bramaged and was expecting to see something like "e-body" as a legend?  Is Challenger C, and D is Dart and V is Valiant and B is Barracuda, etc?  Sorry, I bought the books and hope to be as independent as possible, just need confirmation as I'm trying to learn more about Chrysler products.  Thx!

The J is what the e-body is...don't know why...
In my '73 manual on one of the first few pages this is covered.

The letters are the first digit of the VIN of each body style.

B - Barracuda
J - Challenger
R - Belvedere, Satellite, GTX
W - Coronet, Charger
V - Valiant, Duster
L - Dart
P - Plymouth Full size (C-body)
D - Dodge full size
C - Chrysler
My name is Steve and I'm addicted to Challengers...
