Getting thru another ice storm!
« on: December 15, 2008 - 09:12:12 AM »
At work today but still without power at home since 10pm Thursday, luckily I have  a generator that I bought last time we lost power for three days.A total of over 400,000 out in NH and probably still half that still have no power. We had a house full with my sister in law, mother in law and one of my sister in laws clients(she does home health care for the ederly) that we found on her living room floor with no power and she couldn`t get up!Fortunately she is fine and back home as she has power again but the amount of power lines and trees down is amzing,I could drive for 20-30 minutes in any direction without seeing any power and had a tough time even finding gas for the generator.

I have heard of these ice storms but we din't seem to get them. Did once in the spring of 98 but that's it. They have to be worse then just about any other type of weather out there.  Hang in there it should get better, it always seems to.

My friend based in Ohio that works on power lines left to go up there to help restore power.  We don't have many bad ice storms here, but I'll never forget the one when I was a kid, saw a transformer blow up, and there was snow with ice so thick I wouldn't fall through.

I remember going through some of the ice storms.   I remember when only thing you could do to get around was to Ice skates to get anywhere.  Glad you had a generator.  Gordon

Hang in there, Jeff.  I've seen some photos from N.H. and the surrounding areas that have been getting a ton of ice and must say the damages have been drastic.  One block had damaged houses, totaled cars, damaged cars; you name it and it was pretty much damaged.

All I can keep thinking is I`m thankfull I have a generator and really feel bad for those that don`t.The worst thing is hearing about the scum that are posing as line workers ripping poeple off, stealing generators and breaking into houses during all this,I hope a gun owner catches them and gives them what they deserve!
