In 1979 my next door neighbor was riding big engine BMWs. Then, he got a Honda CBX 6 cylinder bike. His passion was riding on weekends on the twisty roads of SF's peninsula at a place called La Honda. Notorious for it's mountain curves. He was used to shutting down the locals up there. Guess what........the CBX 6 cyl didn't handle in the curves. While racing the locals to the next turn he couldn't keep the bike from going wide off the road into the dense trees. He went down with the CBX and a tree stopped the momentum. A footpeg tore through his foot, ankle, leg, thigh requiring hondreds of stitches. The day he was brought home from the hospital he was on a stretcher. I rode a 1964 H-D Sportster low rider at the time. Later graduated to a 1979 H-D Super Glide. Today, I ride a H-D Heritage Classic. Never been hurt on the Harley's I've owned. Almost died three times riding different Japanese 1100 cc bikes.... totaled the bikes. I Felt like Humpty Dumpty except I was put back together again.
