    Some welding art

    Wasn't sure where else to post this so here it is. Just wanted to show you some of the welding art that I have done. I haven't done one in awhile because my welder is inaccessible at the moment, but I hope to have the space to do more soon. I have sold dozens of my "Mechanimals" I call them on ebay. I mostly do critters and such. My favorite to do is different types of praying mantis. I have always love Manti. The second pic is the first thing I ever welded 5 minutes after I taught myself to weld. Some sort of android robot I suppose. Enjoy.

    Bear, you and I think alike.  Here at the farm, there are so many different scrap pieces.  That stuff reminds me of the stuff I've made.  Locomotive, blackbird, puppy dog, owl, sunflower, and now I'm thinking about a lobster.  Its really addictive, very cool!

    I saw a "sculpture" at WyoTech that an instructor had done - it was a tree with some animals around it, that was done ENTIRELY by MIG weld puddling.  There were no parts, no scrap...  Just took a flat piece of metal and started puddling MIG weld on top of MIG weld...  Took him months, he said.  We weren't allowed to have cell phones or anything so I couldn't get any pics.

    Thanks guys, it's really fun to do. I have an endless supply of metal pieces from work. Different items just kind of speak to me when I look at them and I envision how they will be used. I've been collecting larger metal stuff for awhile now with the intention of doing a full size werewolf, but I need an english wheel to construct how I see the top of the head. That sculptor doing scenes with nothing but pools of weld sounds insane. I don't think I would have the patience for that.
