    A crumbling economy, more than 2 million constituents who have lost their jobs this year, and congressional demands of CEOs to work for free did not convince lawmakers to freeze their own pay.  :22yikes:

    Instead, they will get a $4,700 pay increase, amounting to an additional $2.5 million that taxpayers will spend on congressional salaries

    “Look at the way the economy is and how most people aren’t counting on a holiday bonus or a pay raise — they’re just happy to have gainful employment,” said Ellis. “But you have the lawmakers who are set up and ready to get their next installment of a pay raise and go happily along their way.”

    Recession and 10 trillion in debt and they get a raise.I didn`t get a raise at all this year and am just thankfull I still have a job.  :swear:

    Yup, one of these days we need to clean house like when we told England to go to hell. I am tired of people who do not live in the real world dictating what I can and cannot do. They are fat around the steak as far as I am concerned. Not even a necessary evil in my opinion. We could actually get those firemen from that commercial and they could do a much better job without someone holding the title to their soul. By the time 99% of politicians get that high up the political food chain they are so corrupt they would sell their own mother for a buck.

    Looks like we should maybe try typing some responses to out locally elected Congressmen on this issue rather than on this post. Maybe we can than have a laugh together at the politically correct replies. But still worth considering, right?

    I think the only time they should get a pay raise is when we have a balanced budget. I live in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the state requires a balance budget to be accomplished every year. I think it's a good law. Sometimes the fat has to be trimmed and it makes some of the congressman "sweat" due to cuts that have to be made that may affect their district, but it makes them somewhat honest and actually causes them to work together to get it done!! :clapping:
