A/C Vacuum lines
« on: December 21, 2008 - 07:55:10 PM »
Okay, I got under the dash tonight and saw the back of the A/C heater box control where the vacuum lines hook up.  Can someone post a pic of this control with the lines attached?  Is there a single bulkhead plug that fits over all of the tubes coming out of it or does each line hook up individually?

Thanks!

Jeff

There are big plugs that fit over the individual tubes on the switch.  You could probably do individual lines to each little port.

Thanks for the pic!  It helps alot.

I am assuming one of the vacuum lines goes through the firewall and is connected to the motor to supply vacuum for the system.  Can you tell me where this line goes through the firewall and where it hooks to the motor?

Thanks for your help!

Jeff

It goes through the fire wall under the heater box by the drain hole.

I do not know about what port on the car , someone else will have to make a positave ID o that one for you.

Typically, the vacuum source is from the same area as the brake vacuum assist (for power brake cars). There's a multi-nippled fitting toward the back of the intake manifold. It will have one large (3/8) nipple pointing straight up and one or more smaller ones coming out of the hex-shaped base. Cop cars have so many, they look like an octopus! You could hook to a spare port on your carb also.
