Does padding go under a Cuda vinyl roof?
« on: December 19, 2008 - 11:45:11 AM »
I'm looking to have a vinyl roof put on my Cuda project to make it more original. I noticed that they offer padding to go under the vinyl, "For a plush look" according to the description. Did the Cudas use this padding, or was the vinyl just put right onto the metal. If I remember correctly, I dont believe there was any padding under the old one, but I just want to make sure.

I thought it was just the vinyl and adhesive.

I think padding would be a bad idea. If there is a leak, you don't want it to suck up the water and rot out your top faster.   :22yikes:

It is my understanding that the factory had absolutely no padding at all on the vinyl tops but the repops have a very small amount. Any truth to that?

it would seem that they used some padding around the SE rear window to cover the transition to the fiberglass plug , other than that I am not aware of any padding used

No padding on Chally or cuda, but you'd use it on say a Valiant Signet. We put a nice padding on ours and it looked great. The vinyl roof on the Signet is framed all around with chrome.

No padding on the cuda or challenger.  I have put on many of them myself.  Gordon
