Maybe I'm just lucky, or don't know any better, but I've never had a bad plug.  I've run all these brands without noticing difference.  I've run too cold a plug, trying to keep detonation down with the obviously result of fouled plugs though.  I do like platinum for a fuel injected daily driver, they will go 100k miles easy.  For my hot rods its what ever is cheapest.

It starts, it runs and I know i'm not going to run in first place, so I don't waste the money.

I don't know Al. I bet if you ever ran at that 1/8 mile by your place it would probably show alot of those cars up. A set of drag radials and you would probably destroy the competition there.
While I haven't let it all hang out in my car, need to get floor pans and frame conectors, I bet your car would give it a run for it's money and I've got all that expensive stuff!

Thanks Go-fish,    MERRY CHRISTMAS to you and all your family.

I am starting to purchase some 410 gears for the dana next week :2thumbs:  I installed the J10Y plugs in it and they are working very good. Come to find out, autolite 85's is a j10y cross over number.

I went into town to see about modifying the exhaust yesterday for more HP.   The owner said what I thought he would/should of. He says...

This is an expensive rust free car, you should leave it like you have it and go play with another one to hot rod. You can't find these cars in this good of shape. So I drove home. After a 30 minute chat.

My plan was 1 7/8 tube headers, 3 inch exhaust, better mufflers, change cam, tie the frames, and install the 9 inch converter and a 727 with transbrake, with 410 gears.

I am just going to do the 410 gears as of now.

I tend to agree with you exhaust guy, a modification to me on this type of classic car means the addition of a factory option.  I don't mind internal engine upgrades or anything you can't see, just no JC Whitney stuff. we all have our ideas on what is acceptable , I just feel if I want to kiderize a car I'll do it to a Nova or something that doesn't matter.

Speaking of Dana 60's what is a fair price on one in good shape drum to drum?  and is there a difference between a '70 B body and a '70 E body Dana 60? maybe I shouldn't ask that on a spark plug thread.

Ask what you want in this post. I take no offense.  Others may not notice a dana post in a plug post tho

A car dana for mopars is really expensive. 1k to 3k depending on who what and when...I get a truck dana at a pick apart junk yard for under 250 if I need one, then have it narrowed 150 bucks, moser axles with bearing are under 400 bucks, your 8 3/4 brakes work, 13 bucks for perches, 90 bucks for moser mopar 8 3/4 dana 60 axle flanges, or just use the ones off another 8 3/4 , then  the hardest part to me was getting a 35 spline power lock in good condition for a good price. I got mine for 250 bucks.  My dana came with 354 gears already so I kept them. I am now stepping up to 410's which will be around 200 for the gears, plus the pinion bearing and shims.

The total cost of my dana was under 1k and ready to install.    StRoKer got a dana from me and did his own things to it and came out good as well

The next time you NEED pipes 3" would be a good idea. You can still get some pretty quiet mufflers in 3". I think alot of people put 3" on thier car'a and they don't need it for the HP they are putting out. With the way yours is tuned you would benefit from stepping up from 2.5". Plus, it is one of those things like tires, some people won't even notice you have three inch, it doesn't permenantly alter your car, and it can be changed back if need be.

Your car is pretty good like it is. Don't you still have that racecar to play with?

I will not use NGK .
It started back when I was working in a motorbike shop , NKG would get slightly wet with fuel & would just quit firing , I thought technology had come a long way in the last 25 years since I was working on bike But back in sept a friend called me over as his car was running poorly , I knew he was having some choke problems but not bad & the car would just surge constantly while driving , he had ordered a rebuilt carb & installed it but it was running worse with it on , I took the carb apart & found some issues so I reinstalled the original carb & started tuning but nothing helped so we pull the wires & checked them , they tested fine , so I pulled the plugs NGK & they looked good, not wet or anything  but I knew they had been rich with the choke issue . I suggested we change the plugs out , we picked up a set of the cheapest Champs we could find , just RJ12YC for 2.25 each & installed them , problem solved .
