Homemade GPS tracker

I think I read a article on here about GPS trackers that are hidden in cars incase they are stolen. I thought of that when I ran across this article. The articles explains how to use a prepaid cellphone with GPS to track its position online. I think this would work very well if you wired the phone directly to your car (using the phones car charger) so that the batteries would not die. Just a cost effective idea I thought somebody might be interested in.
