Hood stuck shut

I am having a terrible time getting my hood to open. It sticks shut. It is a '74 Challenger with an inside hood latch/release. I pull the hood release and most of the time it doesn't open. I have to keep pressing down on the hood and retrying the latch release to finally get it to open. Is there an adjustment that can be made to solve this problem like shimming the hood latch??

It sounds like you need to raise the latch up a little bit.

Make sure it and the cable are lubed too.

  Have you got a spring that should pop it up onto the safety catch?

Spring is there. I'll have to see about loosening up the latch.
