Another Two-fer Night for Daisy!
« on: May 26, 2002 - 12:47:14 AM »
I guess Saturday nights are good for some action.  All in all I lined up against 4 different cars tonight, but two were in my other car.  First came the integra.  Again I was just out trolling.  9 out of 10 drives in Daisy I'm just driving for the hell of it with no particular place to go.  Same as last night, was sitting at a light and saw this Integra blow through the intersection.  So the chase was on.  Caught him at a stopsign.  Turned out to be a group of teenagers.  A weighted down little four banger huh?  Wouldn't be much of an ego boost, but I was already there.  Unfortunately there is definitely something wrong with the carbs.  We did just do a full rebuild, but we haven't tuned yet and its showing.  Right now she cant get out of her own way until 3 grand.  So we were neck and neck until then when the ass whooping commenced.  He was getting chirps when he was shifting though.  Course its a lot easier to do that in a front wheel drive car, but I kind of doubt a stock integra can do that.  At the next stop sign he was behind me.  I rip a good burnout and was gone.  I saw his lights behind some 20 lengths back.  It was a joke.  Course I did start in front of him so it wouldn't have been so bad but nevertheless Daisy laid the smack down.  He might have just gave up though.  Didn't stop him from blowing by me in the usual ricer fashion after I pulled over to answer my cell.  Car sounded like someone was choking a squirrel.  He knows what a mans car sounds like now though.

This was easily the closest race I've had.  Chased down a 911 Carrera.  We had a hard time breaking through the traffic to line up next to each other but we were finally able to line up at a light.  When I looked over I see this dude with the biggest grin I've ever seen on a human face before.  He was already giving me a thumbs up and I nodded and smiled.  Light turned green and he bounced a good car length on me.  Damn carbs I tell you are screwing me over tonight.  So I'm behind him a good a length before I hit 5 grand.  Let me tell you about 5 grand.  5 grand is Daisy's sweet spot.  The engine screams like I'm impaling it with a hot fire poker.  I would assume the secondaries would open before that, or at least I would like them to, but 5 grand seems to be the magic number.  The exhaust sound totally changes and there's an extra jolt.  I've never been in a car with nitrous before, but I equate 5 grand to a small nitrous shot.  Instant new power.  So anyway, I'm rambling.  I hit 5 grand and I shoot out in front.  The only draw back to 5 grand is its only a short jump to 6 grand where I have my limiter set.  I could probably pull easy past 6, but something about 6 grand+ in a big block seems, well, somewhat surreal and unnatural.  So I start bouncing off the limiter and he jumps back in front.  I shift and trade with him again, but then he let off.  Good call too, as we were hauling ass in a 40 zone.  Gave the guy a wave and went back on my merry way.
