Do you SERIOUSLY think games are fixed??  If so, why not have the cinderella Card's be the the winner? It would make for a great story as it's their first against a team that had already won 5 Super Bowls.

Did you bump your head recently??   :screwy:

LOL.  It has nothing to do with a "story"; it has to do with the money.  Pittsburgh is much larger NFL market... But if it didn't come from upstairs, it only takes one ref.  Can't close-line myself, but watch any game in question with full play by play in hand and see for yourself.

Big plays win Superbowl games. Some players step up and make them and some don't. Some are destined to be replayed thousands of times and will go down in history as the great plays that won the games. Arizona played a good game but I saw nothing they did that I would really call "Spectacular". Nobody ever stepped up to make that all-time SB highlight reel play to win the game. The play that will always stand out from that game is the INT return. That was a 14 point swing. I could be wrong, but I don't think any referee went into the Cards huddle and instructed Warner to throw the ball right into the gut of the NFL's defensive MVP. The only big mistake he made, YES, but it was a real doozy. When he's an old man reflecting back on his career he will remember that one play as the one he would most like to do over.  :walkaway:  Ever hear of Scott Norwood?  ???

The Cowboys have just as many fans as the Steelers (maybe more) and play in a much bigger Media market but they have lost 6 straight playoff games and haven't won one in 11 seasons. So much for that theory.  :grinno:

You know your history, I'll give you that... Your conclusions need some work though.  Your Dallas example assumes that every game is up for a fix.  :eek7:

I thought this was a neat thread here as I never checked the Off Topic section.  I read it and didn't see were anyone touched on what became too obvious this time around; so I thought I'd comment.  You can be sure that, although a minority, there are readers here who are well aware of what I'm sharing.  Most can't or choose not to address it.  I've shared enough.

Hey the Steelers are great!

This teams greatness has still to be determined by what they do in the coming years. They have some very good players for sure on both sides of the ball and unlike some other teams they were mostly all drafted and home grown, and they obviously picked a good coach (but Wisenhunt in retrospect would have also been a great choice..) I just hope they don't get too fat and complacent going to all the banquets this off season. It took them 3 years to get back the last time.:nono:

Harrison WAS penalized 15 yards for that stupid move, he was lucky he wasn't ejected for that. Overall it was a GREAT game, both teams showed respect for each other and there was no cry babies and excuse makers "on the field", but they WILL show up in the overall NFL fan base, happens every year no matter who plays or who looses.

I stand corrected here, although Harrison WAS penalized it turned out to be only for about a 1/2 yard since the Cards downed the punt within the two yard line, so it could only be half the distance to the goal line.

As far as reviewing the last play, witnin the last two minutes a coach cannot (why? dumb part of this rule) challenge even if he does have a challenge left. The officials up in the booth must "buzz" down and halt play for an on field review.  They later said they indeed did review (from the booth) and determined that the field call was correct. But I will AGREE with the fact that this play should have had an on field "official" review because of it's significance. However again, even if the rules would have allowed the Cards to "flag" the play, the coach couldn't have because they had already used all their time outs. If you have no time outs remaining you cannot challenge.

All I know is, I've been a STEELER fan for 40 seasons, the 69-70 season and those first couple years were humbling to say the least, but through thick and thin they have always bust their butts trying. BTW, it also was announced that Sunday's Super Bowl was the most watched ever, beating last yeas game by just a few points in the ratings.  :2thumbs:
