WIW 1970 Challenger convertible
« on: January 26, 2009 - 05:29:09 PM »
What do you say, experts

In todays market, what would a 1970 Challenger convertible be worth?

Numbers matching engine and trans, 383+727. PDB, PS, AC, bucket seats and console, Fender Tag, Broadcast Sheet. Original body, not a rust bucket. +30k miles on the odometer, supposed to be correct mileage.

B5 bright blue exterior, one repaint in the mid 90's. H6XW white interior, V3W white top. Rallye hood, std instrument panel.

Minor rust in trunk and rear quarter, but no bondo and needs only very small patches. Seats need to have new upholstery. Possibly also in need of a new convertible top, it's dirty like...

Not a show car, but a decent driver.

Seller asks $44k.

Is it worth for it in today's economical situation? :feedback:

It does sound like a sweet car, but it's tough to tell without pictures. Given your description, I would try to get it for less.

Yes, I know that the pictures would tell more than  :chatting:...

But believe or not, when I was there looking at it, my camera's batteries were dead.  Someone  :banghead:  had not checked the batteries before leaving home. Who? I  :lol2:

I found from web two similar convertibles for sale.

The other is having higher price tag, but the other is almost in the same category.

eBay convertible

And an other one

Even the one with higher price has a lot of issues too...

I have been searching for a vert rather long time and now when the market prices have decreased a little I was hoping to find one reasonable.

Where are now all big block Challenger convertibles in the $30-40k level? Are there any in the reality or are they full projects???

Both of those cars are way over priced IMO, especially the one on ebay way to many things wrong and it is a factory 2 barrel car. The 2nd one the guy claims is in number 2 condition and I can tell just by those 2 photos posted its not a number 2 car and again over priced for the current market.

:iagree: it's rather normal when people are selling their cars, they are overrating them
