Firewall Insulation???
« on: December 21, 2008 - 07:52:10 PM »
I am putting together a 72 Challenger that has A/C.  I got the Firewall Insulation kit from Year One.  Can someone tell me where all of the pieces go?  I did not take the car apart so I have no idea where each piece goes. :clueless:

Thanks!

Jeff

When I did mine, I put the new pieces where the old ones were, and I could tell where they went by taking my dash out and removing the old pieces. If your old pieces are not there, you may be able to figure out where they go by matching up the holes in some of the pieces with the holes in the firewall.

The original pieces were long gone and the new pieces only have holes in like two or three of them.  There are either six or seven pieces!  I received the car after paint and the firewall is very clean.  I can tell where three of the pieces go but I dont have a clue how the other three or four pieces are supposed to go.  One of them has a serrated area on one edge of the hard backing where it looks like you can tear it off if you need to.   :clueless:

Thanks!

Unfortunately, that is a non A/C car.  The A/C cars are totally different.  Instead of having one big piece on the passenger side, it has a bunch of pieces of insulation.  I just do not know where they all go.  :swear:

When I get home tonight I will see if there is a picture of it in my shop manual. If there is I will post it.
