i run a 71 challenger with a 440 in it ... i also use it for normal street driving and its my first year with it (had it since Aug when me and my pops finished restoring it)
i never let it go on empty so ... every 3 days i fill it up ... it usto be anywhere from 12-15 if i just went from home to work and back 17 if i make an extra trip anywhere .... now since the gas prices have started to climb its getting about 22 bucks every 3 days ... if your okay with that then do it ... but id imagine a 318 would be a hell of a gas saver compared to a bigger stronger 440 ... it sure as hell gonna turn more heads and set off car alarms when you drive by ...
