Challenger SE Finish Panel & Trunk Lock Q
« on: May 25, 2008 - 12:44:14 PM »
Hi,

Does the trunk lock cylinder mount over the SE finish panel (going through the round hole)?  Or does it just mount to the car body and the filler panel goes over it?  Would seem to make sense if it went through the hole in the filler panel, but it doesn't fit.  Unless I have the wrong lock cylinder (it mounts in place with a clip).  Any insight would be helpful.  Thanks.

Another reason that made me question it is from seeing this.  Thanks for clarifying.

I agree the panel goes over the lock , someone must have modified the one in the picture to make the lock go through the panel , it would be a tight fit the distance on the lock from the face to the clip is short

OK I just checked my original finish panel , the hole is too small for the lock to fit through , the lock Has to go behind the panel just like the door handles

Exactly. once the finish panel is installed, it's attaching hardware will snug it up to the tail panel.
