Need Help With Pulleys On My 71 Challenger 340
« on: February 04, 2009 - 11:53:34 AM »
Hey guys,

I have a 71 Challenger convertible with a 340.  I have removed the A/C.  So I will have P/S and the alt.  I bought a single groove water pump pulley but it's hitting the crank pulley.  I can't find a smaller single groove water pump pulley.  Is there one?  I figured then I would find a smaller crank pulley.  Can't find one.  I figured this would be pretty easy but its not working out.  What do you guys think.  I need a single groove water pump pulley and a double groove crank pulley.  Any help is appreciated Thanks.

Back when I built my 71 from scratch, I used a complete pulley setup from a late 80's 5.2 liter(318) Chrysler car. Bolted on perfect and cost almost nothing. I even used the a/c compressor from that car. It's surprising how many engine components will interchange from those late model cars and trucks.
