Patch Panel

On my 70 Challenger, I have a hole about the size of an orange behind the wheels and a hole about the size of a dime in front of the rear wheel well.  Has anyone used the patches that they have out to patch the area up?  I hate to replace a whole quarter for that amount of rust.  Also, has anyone ever replaced a trunck extension without removing a quarter panel?  It looks like the trucnk extension rusted out which limited the damage to the outer panel.

i have the exact same question for my car looking forward to the answer. id hate to buy the whole rear panel only to cut off the bottom side below the body line.

Why not just get a small square or rectangle of 18 ga steel and make it yourself. I did my own and it came out fine

I was thinking of making my own, but the hole is opposite of the drain plug.  I am afraid that I will uncover a little more than the small hole that is there now.  With the compound curve, I was thinking that the patch panel may have some of the fab part done for me.

I usually buy the Qtr skins and just use what I need. You can repalce the trunkfloor drop offs without removing the qtrs. Its tight and requires some massaging.

I believe a patch panel is listed on the Sherman site. When I bought my authentic Mopar full quarter they listed the quarter, the partial quarter and the lower patch panel. It seemed reasonable in price at the time.

I bought the small patch panels at first but realized that the full length half 1/4s were cheaper and left me with a bunch of metal for other repairs.
I also bought the two trunk extensions, I ended up only needing the lower 5" of all of the panels.
Watch the body lines they are not correct on the Tiwaneese parts, I had to do a bunch of fabing.

I'm about to do trunk drop offs on both sides w/o removing the quarters. Any tips?   Pics would help. I was going to just do the lowers too. But would like the new metal in there.

Thanks for the tips.  I may wait until Carlisle or Nationals to pick up a skin.  I think I have enough work on the front to keep me going until summer.  I am starting to get metal together to fab up a cheap rotiserrie too.  Too many projects, not enough time.
