Where to run a keyed wire for CD Ignition?
« on: February 13, 2009 - 07:09:55 PM »
Where can I run my keyed wire for a Summit CD Ignition? I ran it to one spot, but it gets bypassed when cranking.

Oil pressure wire is keyed.

generally you have to tie the brown start wire to the ballast & the blue 12v feed together to make it fire while cranking

The colors are different on the Summit Version. There is the keyed small red, big red straight to the batter, and black to a chassis ground. Then there are the coil wires and trigger wires. Do you mean twist the two reds together? How would it turn off then? The directions say to run it to the original positive coil wire.

well you need to have a 12 run source & a 12v start source , they need to be connected together so the ign is turned on while cranking

I just got a thought, I could run one of the wires to the starter solenoid and another where I currently have it.

you have to connect the ign to both so I guess that would work

I just thought again, I don't think that would work because it would backfeed to the solenoid and the engine will always be cranking.
