70 Challenger 340 4 speed
« on: February 16, 2009 - 05:39:49 PM »
I have been thinking about selling my 70 Challenger. Not because of the economy or because of the amount of work to fix the car, but because I don't have any time to go and work on it, it is 4 hours away from me, it is taking up space at my parents place and I have no idea when I will be able to get working on it. I was suppose to try and start work on it my last trip up to Redding but that didn't work out and I don't know when the next time I will be able to go up and possibly work on it.

So here is the information on the car. It is a 1970 Challenger, factory 340, 4-speed, plum crazy purple with a white bumble bee stripe, white interior car. Other than that it is fairly low optioned. Below is a link to some of the pictures and I will post more this evening. The passenger frame rail needs to be replaced and both inner fenders. The car has minimal rust and only needs a couple of small patches in the floor. I do have another frame rail, k member and suspension parts. Most of the interior is gone, but the fender tag and dash vin are there. I also have a clear title for the car. Any thoughts would be appreciated on the value.

My best guess is a telephone pole from the side. The accident occured around 81.

Here are a few more pics. I have all of the glass except for the windshield, and a few other odds and ends of parts for it as well.

John

I know you said miminal options but it might help to place a value on the car if you post the fender tag.

I looked through my pictures and found I have a pretty blurry shot of the tag. But I was able to make out all of the tag except for the build date and order number and sequence number. Also based off the trace amount of red paint on the brake drums the car had rallye wheels (I would say or Magnum 500, but I think that the A66 cars all had 15 inch wheels).

Does it have the engine and trans?    Looks like every single thing on the car needs to be replaced or reconditioned.  So Major bucks are required.  I myself am not sure how much it is worth :clueless:

No motor or trans. It is missing a lot. The saving grace is there is minimal rust, just the frame damage, which I have talked to a couple of frame guys I know that have all told me it's not that big of a deal to fix.

:'( Just from the pics, it doesn'tlook like there is alot left and the body damage looks sad.  My wild guess would be $1500 - $2000.

Is it that you need the money?  I mean for 2 or 3 thousand I think I would just keep it and save it for later.  The car has a good color combo and being an A66 car would  be popular when finished.  Unless you trying to sell to finance something else I say keep it, or you will end up like Doug... wishing he kept his A66 project.   :2cents:

PS.  Anyone going to take a stab on the WIW?

I don't need the cash. Currently with the way things are looking I won't be able to start on it for who knows how long. Which is why I am thinking about selling it. Odds are I will just let it sit, but the possiblity is always there.
