'73 'Cuda numbers
« on: February 20, 2009 - 12:06:47 PM »
Hi Guys!
I am new to E bodies. I know where all the numbers are on the body of a B body. Where are the numbers stamped on an E body that should match the VIN tag? Do they stamp them on the radiator yoke and trunk rail like a B body?
Thanks!
John

The vin is stamped on the core support (some on top, some on back), cowl top left side and thats about it on an E body

What would be stamped? Just the last 8 digits of the VIN?

Thanks for the info. I want to check the 'Cuda when it gets a little warmer.

I think I found some numbers stamped  on the radiator yoke. They are on the drivers side of the yoke on the top between two holes. I can't read them well because they are full of paint or aren't stamped very deep.
Since there are no numbers stamped in the rear of the car (like a B body), how could you ever tell if the car was wrecked and halved?

Look for clues. Cars that are rear clipped are rarely the same color as the front half.

I know of '68 Barracuda that has blue floor pans in front with green floor pans in back. The welds were pretty obvious as non-factory as well.

I have a '74 'CUDA like that.  It needs quarters and roof but I'm not sure it's worth rebuilding with it back halved like that.
