Mini Starter Question (stock wiring / mini-shield?)
« on: February 20, 2009 - 10:10:34 PM »
I'm looking at the 440source mini-starter for my 340.

Can I use the my stock molded positive battery connection without modifying?

They mention a mini-starter shield is needed or there will be a gap? True?

the factory end will work , it will sit twisted but can be bolted on without changing the factory end
the filler plate was used even with the factory starter to fill the gap between the starter  & belhousing

Depending on your application, you'll probably have to remove the terminal extension. The plastic cover snaps off, then the extension unbolts. I learned this one the hard way, trying to bolt one to a 440.

I had to remove the terminal extension for my 440, but I ask if you have headers or not? You might have to do some fishing to get the positive wires down in there if you do. It shouldn't be too bad though.

I have the factory exhaust, so it sounds like it will bolt up, but be twisted.

What about the shield, is that needed to cover a gap?

Thx

it is not really needed but all the big blocks had them from the factory , I doubt you will be driving it in bad enough weather to really need it

Thx for the info, I don't see any gaps with my stock unit.
