My sisters dog just had surgery for the same thing....gottem lopped off.  The dog laid around for a few days moaning and groaning and for obvious reasons has stop seeing his girlfriend...this is true.  I suggested they look into getting him a set of Neuticles to boost his self esteem.

that is good news. hope he recovers well.

Thats a real bummer, man.  Hope all goes well, too.

Ok, I dont want to turn this thread around, and I apologize if I do, but what is going on?  I mean, why is everyone's dog getting cancer?  What are we feeding them/exposing them to that we shouldnt be?  Our last two dogs lived perfectly normal, long, healthy lives, all off of fresh, warm cow milk.  Their deaths were unrelated to health.  They didnt get any toys, or much dogfood, they just got leftover meat.

Its really too bad to hear these stories, I hate to see any animal suffer.   :-\

I just had one of my dogs in for his vaccinations and my vet was telling me how many pets in the last month he diagnosed with renal failure, it is terrible as I lost one of mine to that, they just wilt away until you get the courage to do the best thing for them.  I definatley think there things that cuase these problems, if humans can get sick and somethings are found to cuase cancer, then some of the pet supplies probably do the same thing.

I hope your buddy has a full and speedy recovery.

He's just laying around the house, moping around.  I suppose I'd be doing the same if my testicles were removed.  He gets the stitches removed in a couple weeks.

Like flathood, I suspect doggie cancer is related to what they get fed. I suspect that the best food for dogs (and cats) is meat. Duh! They're carnivores! The dog food industry I suspect is like the vitamin industry, foisting untested crap on unsuspecting consumers. I feed my Jack Russell some dry dog food but mostly meat. I buy a ham or turkey when it is on sale, freeze it in week-size portions. A ham on sale may be cheaper than dog food. Also feed him chicken livers, raw hamburger, etc.

At one time I thought no sane human would have a dog, and had a list of reasons as long as my arm why no logical person would want one. My wife came home with this two month-old Jack and dropped him in my arms. All my reasons for not wanting a dog went out the window. Now, he's MY dog. The scary thing is, if I was that wrong about something like a dog, what else am I wrong about?
