Frame Measurements? Lead filler treatment
« on: December 27, 2010 - 10:27:47 PM »
Anyone have the frame measurements for a 74 challenger? I have to replace 3 of the 4 frame rails and would like to try and find the measurements to make them accurate.

Also does anyone know the name of the chemical used to treat the lead filler before primer etc... is added?

Thanks!! Ya 3 of the 4, drivers front is got a crack right down the center of it and the battery rotted right through the front of it. Then the drivers rear was spliced and not done right, looks terrible. And the passenger rear has rot through it. Purchased 3 new clean full length frame rails to make it look new again.

From Resto Rick's website:
Wipe the surface with PRE Painting Prep or Acetone and dry with a clean soft cloth.

At this point a skim coat of polyester body filler can be applied to get the contour exactly right.
